Step inside Whistler’s original watering hole and go back in time to a place dripping with legend, lore and finger lickin’ BBQ sauce. Located at the base of the Creekside Gondola, Dusty’s offers mouthwatering BBQ, arguably the world’s best Caesar, a legendary après, party rockin’ live shows and is open everyday from 11 AM ’til late.
“They paved paradise and put up a parking lot.”
Well, not really. But Dusty’s is one of those original Whistler places that got an extreme makeover with the redevelopment of Creekside. Actually it was torn down and a new one was built.
The original Dusty’s – goodness, remember that? Free flowing brews, spontaneous singing, crazy antics, dogs sauntering right in, smoking (gasp!) – it was a throw back to the liberal days of the 1970s. Hence, a little wording from Joni Mitchell.
Dusty’s was Whistler’s true “old school” apres in Creekside long before the Village concept was on an architect’s table. Dusty’s closing party in April 2001 was one of Whistler’s most notorious events where even tourists and vistors who had never been to Dusty’s got caught up in the magic, sadness and farewells to such an established Whistler venue.
Apparently the name is derived from some horse that was named “Dusty”. The new Dusty’s, honouring the tradition, still has a horse insignia at the top of the building.
The new Dusty’s still holds charm with plenty of room for after-ski eating and drinking. They do allow children in the upstairs part. And their huge, heated outdoor patio provides the best place in Creekside for spring and summer time sunning.
There’s a coffee bar / bistro that serves breakfast and coffees in the morning before your Whistler Creekside Gondola ride to the mid-station. Open from noon until midnight.
But everyone who is a Whistler local…remembers the old Dusty’s…
